Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag announced (already...)

Hot on the tails of yesterday's speculation concerning the next Assassin's Creed comes confirmation in the form of a packshot sent out by Ubisoft. Now you don't get more official than that.

What else do we know about the next entry in the increasing far-fetched stealth series for sure? That we're allowed to use the following quote: “We confirm that Ubisoft will announce all the details of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag on Monday March 4th at 5pm GMT.”

It's all to do with a non-disclosure agreement y'see. Ubisoft held a reveal press on the 27th of February, but nobody can say anything about the game other than the quote they've provided until next week, unless they want to kiss the gunner's daughter.

We can certainly tell you that the PS3 version will feature an extra 60 minutes of gameplay – just as it was with Assassin's Creed 3 and Brotherhood. And that Black Flag is definitely going to be a game about pirates on the high seas rather than anything to do with Henry Rollins – which is a bit of a pity.

Must admit I'm shocked this has been announced so soon and a little disappointed as I was hoping to have a longer wait for a next gen revamp of the series rather than another current gen installment that could easily leave the series in decline....

A bit soon maybe? I know AC is a good series for Ubisoft but the frequency they are turning them out is getting a bit daft - from a fan point of view it doesn't need an annual release as long as the quality is maintained.

I still haven't played AC3 as i played Brotherhood and Revelations back to back, really enjoyed them but felt ready for a little break from the series.

I haven't played one since no 2, they do fly them out a bit too frequently imo

AC3 was a really good game but the ending killed it for me it was so dead i might aswell of played monoply. thought AC4 would have went a different way but without a story line its just not a game just a run around and kill things with comp specs with no aim.

It does seem as if they are milking this series now. I still havent got through Revelations, nevermind picking up number 3 or Liberation for the Vita.
