Xbox One Live TV is US only at launch, requires a separate peripheral (sold separately)
Microsoft has just sent us through a press release revealing a few interesting fact.
Interestingly Live TV with Kinect navigation, Live TV with One Guide, Trending, and NFL on Xbox will be available in U.S. at launch, however Microsoft says that it is "anticipating a global launch over time."
While users may be disappointed with this we have some more slightly disappointing news. For instance Kinect voice functionality will only be available in supported locales and languages, while at launch, Live TV will require a supported receiver device with HDMI output which are sold separately - obviously this could mean your TV Box, Cable Box etc, although given that the US is the only country getting this function it won't matter too much at first.

So, you are forced into using Kinect but you only have part of the tools in order to use how MS are insisting on how you use it??

I think you'll be able to use either voice or gesture to use the required options

actually, this all makes sense.
they didnt announce a worldwide launch. what they said pretty much indicated major territories first - US, EU, AUS and so on. In Europe, think how many different languages there are. That is going to be a bitch of a big job in terms of the kinect up and running.
as for the tv add on, again, it makes sense. with all the different countries and different service providers in each of them, there is no way they could have different bits and pieces in each countries xb1's. an external thing is the only logical way to do it as far as i can see
plus, it means those that dont want it, dont have to have it.
me? i will be looking to get it, assuming its reasonably priced and assuming the xb1 has dvr functionality for tv

This will be quite interesting to know. I don't why it can't though given that we already have the likes of Sky+/V+. There will most likely be a catch though, most likely that any recorded files are locked to the machine they were recorded on.
