GTA V. (please no spoilers) Empty GTA V. (please no spoilers)

Have finished the main story and I have to say that it has to be one of my favourite games of all time. Still got quite a few side missions to do,which I'll get round to doing at some point. Next will be getting into Online.

Anyone else of the same opinion? Or did others find it a bit shite?

I wouldnt go as far as to say fave of all time, but I did enjoy it immensley and am half tempted to go through it again in a straight through / no side missions kinda run.

theres no doubting, the world they created and what they have enabled the player to do in it is unparalleled. really, truly, top notch. the housiers really excel, I think, at characterisation, but as far as storytellers go, they aren't too great. there were cliches flying all over the place, which was a bit frustrating - the black guy trying to get out of the hood (which they have already done themselves), the older, jaded criminal, the socio / psychopath. what saved it was that they were all so well realised. heck, even the "strangers and freaks" provided some of the most memorable experiences. i wanted them to take more risks with the story. there was no real....i dunno...trying to push the envelope at all.

for example, the bit where mikes family gets grabbed. they should have killed them off. or at least, one of them. its all very well and good mike wanting "back in the game", but wheres the consequences of his decision? killing off, say, his kid, would really have been out of left-field as far as gta storys are concerned, and would really have helped push michaels character further

in truth, the lasting memories from this game are not going to be about the story; its going to be franklins exchanges with lemar (my niggaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah), its going to be switching to trevor only to find him drunk on a hill in a dress, or its going to be michael, stood on a hill top looking down over the city as the sun sets. its going to be the little things.

but yh, the story was fun, but not new, different, or memorable in any lasting was i suspect. but the game, as an overall experience? brilliant

the MP has steadily improved. last week i had a few nights on it with 3 / 4 others at a time, and it was an absolute blast. honestly, starting off with a mission or two, and going into a nights worth of races, and the occasional death match or some other mission is a great way to spend an evening. some of the most have had online in ages

also, free roam can be fun too. we put a bounty on one of us, he got in a sub, then the rest of us watched people try to work out where the hell he was on the tv in my apartment. was fucking hilarious watching all the carnage that ensued from that point
