Crytek's boiling hot sequel is an exhibition in cleverly designed freedom and gorgeous graphics.

Crysis 2 skates on the thin ice of its own excellence. There are weaknesses, that might - if the mode-swapping suitplay hadn't been so strong - have dragged the game down. But the story and combat [are] strong enough to carry you through, and if you've got the stomach for competitive multiplayer, the Nanosuit will bring a new world of sneaky, high-jumping tactics to your online game.

Sounds promising. I wasnt that keen on the MP beta as I found it hard to see other players clearly (not including that bloody cloak facility) but know very little about the single player side - I have seen other review scores on sites that are avering 90+/100 so this could be a complete hit.
It won't be a launch pick up for me but one I wouldnt mind checking out in time

The gameplay seemed ok and the lag on the 1st beta I could handle - it was a beta after all. It was the colour pallet that tied me up as the players and the maps seemed to blend in to each other and made it harder for me to pick up enemies as quick as I would on other shooters.
This is most likely linked to my age though lol

No it wasn't just you mate alot of people complained about that, the second beta had a slight change to colour effects that did make it easier to spot people

Exactly Steve but some dev's launch a beta and seemingly don't take onboard the issues or opinions to this degree. It seems like this lot are making a really solid effort to get a good launch for a new console IP when you consider they are shunning the EA passcode system as well.
I hope it works for them
I have finally got to watch the vid (bloody work ) and it does look fantastic

Re: Crysis 2 Launch Trailer + First reviews
Just finished the campaign yesterday and it was awesome! The gameplay for me stands out because it offers up choice rather than funnelling you through the levels.
It's fair to say each level is a sandbox with which you can choose how to approach the objectives, it really freshens up the game and sets it apart from current FPS games.
It does take a while to get to grips with because it shuns the things we are used to, theres no quick scoping and the controls are slightly different but once you get to grips with it the combat flows brilliantly and the nanosuits added perks really brighten up the combat.
Weapons can be personalised mid game just by holding the Back button and selecting your choices...these range from silencers right through to underbarrel shotties. A varying degree of scopes and sights can also be attached on the fly.
The only issue I have with the campaign is that the story is hard to follow without reading the collectible e-mails.
Multiplayer is good, I have no doubt that for some it steps up to CoD quite well but I'm shit at it and find it frustrating, it's fine being a sneaky sniper or stealthy but as soon as you come face to face with an opponent it quite litterally boils down to who can hit the armour button quick enough.
Multiplayer customisation is good though allowing you to upgrade abilities aswell as weapons, you also earn XP in 4 categories - Rank, Power, Stealth and Armour.
Rank is your normal XP which you earn for every kill etc, Stealth XP is awarded for kills and objectives completed while in Cloak, Power is awarded through use of melee, air stomp and grenades and Armour XP is earned through kills and objectives while using the Armour ability. Each level you earn in respective categories allows you to unlock upgrades linked to that ability with power and rank allowing weapon and explosive upgrades while Stealth and Armour give you modules to upgrade those respective abilities.
It's the Nanosuit that varies up the multiplayer and sets it apart from the pack allowing for many more options than simple run and gun.
And lastly those graphics are just incredible! theres a bit in the OP's trailer where a bridge falls down, when I saw it in the trailer I thought it must have been a video but no it's all in-game and it's awesome!
