GTAV 'pretty likely' for 2012
Taken from Gamepsot:
Sources close to Rockstar Games say latest installment in blockbuster franchise is already getting final touches; 2012 release "pretty likely."
Saying that Rockstar Games is working on a new Grand Theft Auto game isn't exactly a bold prediction. However, sources close to the Take-Two Interactive subsidiary have confirmed to GameSpot that the next installment in the blockbuster series is "well under way" and is already having final touches such as minigames being applied to it. The sources said a 2012 release was "pretty likely," adding that the game's scale was vast.
"It's the big one," they said.
Unfortunately, the sources would not divulge any further details on the project, which is already the subject of much speculation. A recent set of casting calls from a talent agency point to the game as being set in a Los Angeles-like metropolis, with a motley crew of California characters being filled for a voice-over session. Prior rumors had the game being set in the Miami clone Vice City.
As of press time, Rockstar reps did not have any comment on casting calls, the game's setting, or whether a new GTA was even in development.
Wherever the next GTA is set, it will have some big shoes to fill. Its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto IV, was a massive success for Rockstar and Take-Two. As of March 2011, the game had sold nearly 20 million copies, placing it among the top-selling games of all time. Its forebearer, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, sold more than 12 million units globally, with its domestic 9.8 million-unit haul putting it in NPD's top 10 US best sellers of the 2000s.
I suppose this was inevitable but I cannot wait for this. I only hope they lighten the tone a little as because as much as I liked GTA IV, the overall feeling of the game was quite sombre and lacking the tongue in cheek humour of the earlier games.

wouldnt mind having another go at some of the earlier versions again. Will be keeping an eye on this but its gonna have to have some pretty interesting new features to make we want to splash out.

I have still got GTA 1, 3 and San Andreas and occasionally set up the ps2 to give them an airing out.
With the growing trend of HD updating older games, I would love to see GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas given a clean up

Sounds promising but they need to improve on the mp side of things, particularly the private lobby set up. As much as its a great laugh when we have our gta nights an easier to use mp game mode set up would make the game awesome in my opinion.
As a side note I have all the earlier gta games for the XBOX and anyone wanting to borrow them would be more than welcome. Just pm me your address.

I do hope that the game caters for a wider variety of game MODES for private sessions. Being able to get together and play the likes of cops and crooks on our own would be awesome.

Re: GTAV 'pretty likely' for 2012
I susspect it will be on a new generation bluray style disk. Hopefully anyway
Re: GTAV 'pretty likely' for 2012
I would hope it won't involve disc swapping but whether it will need multiple discs and a mandatory installation remains to be seen - I saw an article the other day regarding iD's upcoming shooter Rage and that it will have a mandatory 21-22gb installation for the 360 as it is the only way to get the game running as it should be
If they are talking a 2012 launch then it is looking very likely it will be released on the existing generation rather than waiting for the inevitable new generaton of hardware
