Interesting article about an upcoming challenge between the massive chin known to some as David Coultard and some online gamers.

Here

The only problem being 1, its the gay station and 2, its GT5.

should be interesting to see how he gets on. when Hamilton first started he said that he 'practiced' on F1 games but also said that you dont get the 'feel' of the tracks, verying grip levels and the odd bump here and there.

I like the look of this and I reckon DC stands a good chance tbh. I am sure Clarkson did something similar with GT3, or 4 (I can't remember which) and he used a Honda NSX around Laguna. He couldnt get anywhere near his game lap time in real life and a lot of it boiled down to self preservation kicking in (crashing in a video game pales into significance to real life) and also having much more feedback in which to feed your fear i.e. bumps, changes in road surface. DC is far more talented so probably won't suffer the mental gremlins that held Clarkson back.

That said, Clarkson did concede that playing the game first helped him learn a lot about the track in advance and he felt his lap times probably did benefit from it.

I know bike racers like James Toseland and Cal Crutchlow have played the Moto GP games once they knew they were moving up to GP class to help them learn the layout of tracks they had never raced on before

Also for those with GT5 the race will appear in the Seasonal Events menu, you'll have 15mins to put in as many laps as possible.

Winners recieve tickets to the F1 season finisher in Brazil.

I was thinking Coulthard was racing 'online',but only his opponents were.He was going round a real track. Seems a bit dumb really as you could say that anyone who plays an F1 game is racing any of the F1 drivers.

Not really a race, more of see who can set the fastest lap.
