Killswitchmad's E3 2012 Live Thread
It's that time again, E3 is just around the corner and once again I'll be bringing you all the announcments as they happen!
This year things are a little different, All of the big three will be streaming their press conferences to the world. If you want to watch them live then there's a few options...
Microsoft - Monday 4th June - 5.30pm GMT
Microsoft will be streaming straight to the 360 dashboard, The Live App is on the "Home" section of your dashboard and needs to be downloaded then simply start it at the correct time to watch.
Sony - Tuesday 5th June - 2.00am GMT
Sony will be streaming their conference on the official Playstation blog which can be found HERE
Nintendo - Tuesday 5th June - 5pm GMT
Nintendo have various ways to stream their conference, You can watch it on the Nintendo's official Facebook app HERE but I think the best place to watch will be HERE
As always I'll be running a live thread right here for anyone that can't tune in to watch, So keep your eyes right here for all the latest from E3 as it happens

Re: Killswitchmad's E3 2012 Live Thread
Kicking off E3 early Nintendo had a pre-E3 direct feed video this morning and the results were suprising, First off a controller for "hardcore" titles was announced, looking very much like a reworked 360 controller it'll come as a sight of relief for the hardcore that clamour for a return to Nintendo of old...
The redesigned "gamepad" was also shown off although technical specs were left for the main show, It now sports two analouge sticks both of which have a clickable function putting it at least on par with current controllers, it also has bumpers and triggers on the rear and an NFC reader/writer for scanning certain objects etc. It can also be used as an all in one remote for your tv as well as aiding in browser navigation and message sending. It also has a mounted camera plus full motion control.
It was also announced that the crontroller will allow you to stream some games (Hardcore titles were hinted at) straight to the gamepad so you don't even have to use your TV, Something that not even the Vita can do.
The console is fully backwards compatible with all existing Wii controllers and games.
The online portion of the console was also partially shown off namely the "Miiverse" section which see's your startup screen full of icons for the games you've played, if the console is connected to the internet then your friends Mii's will gather around whichever game they are playing but also Mii's from your local area will be shown, It all amounts to a social network style experience allowing you to update your status and friends can then comment or in the case of a very awkward video that was shown you could post up about the game your playing asking for some help, video calling was also shown off using the camera on the gamepad. The Miiverse will be available on all mobile platforms aswell as DS. It also supports the ability to take and post screenshots during gameplay. Some aspects of Miiverse are also available midgame if the developer chooses to use it.
The web browser is also shown off, allowing you to just use it on the gamepad or is you like on both tv and gamepad or you could just flick certain aspects like videos etc to the tv from the gamepad.
Here's the full (And very awkward) video:

Re: Killswitchmad's E3 2012 Live Thread
I watched the pre 2012 vid this morning and was reasonably impressed. It def. looks like Nintendo are going to try and cover all bases and who knows, key franchises may have parity with the Wii U due to the pro controller (which looks a little too familiar lol)
It will be interesting now to see what 3rd party titles they can pull in and how good they are

It certainly looks interesting and very ambitous, It's nice to see that online functionality is catered for straight way this time out, I'm interested in seeing what kind of grunt lurks under the casing as some speculation suggests it's only just on par with the 360 while others say it's more powerful than that

Re: Killswitchmad's E3 2012 Live Thread
Even if its on par with 360/PS3, its impressive given the console (if the ones in the vid are actual units) looks the size of a car stereo
I do wish it had been given more grunt but I wonder how much of the hardware limitations are driving by price AND compatibility with the tablet controller (unless that just streams from the console)

Re: Killswitchmad's E3 2012 Live Thread
The unit doesn't seem to have changed since last year so I'm guessing that's the final design, true enough it is small but you can now get an Alienware of the same size that runs Battlefield 3 at a comfy 60fps on ultimate setting. That would be a little pricey though. If it's on par with the 360 then I can't see it keeping pace with the next gen systems but if they do the same as they did with the Wii and stick it on a middle ground between generations then it could be the early winner
