The Witcher 3
New footage from PAX, looks pretty but its a bit juddery. There's a few uploads of the footage on YouTube and they're all the same, hope the YouTube compression is adding to it. Its suppose to be 30fps on both PS4 and XB1, PS4 having a slightly higher resolution, the juddering in the footage looks a little headache inducing I couldn't play Rage on the 360 due to motion sickness from the same juddery effect.

Reviews are in, good to see no embargos on reviews before the day of release, shows they have confidence in the product.

Excellent, glad to see it is scoring well and CDPR look like they have delivered up to the hype. Add to that, the free DLC support, the early press copies and lack of embargo and from a PR point of view things have gone very well for them

Re: The Witcher 3
I've had this preordered since Dec 2013, just had an email from Amazon to say my card details were out of date so payment declined . Updated my card details, delivery is now 21st . Spoke to Amazon helpline to see if it could be fast tracked for dispatch, "no can do" was the reply, "balls", cancelled my order, going to pick it up locally tomorrow. This is the game I've most been looking forward to since the whole next-gen hype train started, just hope it doesn't disappoint. I'd buy it digitally but even at the discounted price of £40.49 its a rip off.

All around the £45.
Against my better judgment I just bought it digitally for just over £35. Buy MS or PSN credit from CDkeys, "Like" thier page for a further 5% discount, £40 MS credit for £35.05 .
The Witcher 3 was discounted to £40.49 in the XBOX Store I don't know about PSN.

I really need to crack on and get 1 & 2 played before I get this. I will get it on PC as well as you can import W2 saves into 3

I never got into the first one, but I liked the second (with te seemingly dumbed down mechanics). I'll add this to te list of games I'll probably buy when I make the leap to the current-gen.

Picked it up from GAME this morning on my way through town. I traded in Dying Light and had a bit of credit on my card so only cost me a tenner.

Re: The Witcher 3
Not sure what to make of this, graphics don't blow me away, looks pretty in places and the characters look great but the textures aren't brilliant, theres zero detail in scenery, grass, bushes etc are just all flat looking. If you look at the screen as a whole its nice, if a little on the brightly coloured side. Seeing all the HD footage hyping up the game before hand doesn't help, obviously captured on PCs
Text on the screen is small when displayed on a TV, probably ok on a monitor/PC setup. It's not just the subtitles, its the in menu text for item description and stats, its all a bit on the small side as if catering for PC where you're sat much closer to the monitor.
Framerate sucks balls, it chugs along at times, in the main its ok but get to a built up area or a heavily populated area and the XB1 starts to struggle. I thought it was me so had a quick search and tests have shown the frame rate can drop down as low as 20fps and it shows, PS4 suffers the same apparently.
The story is quite good (so far), the cut scences and dialogue are interesting enough, at least I'm not skipping them yet (there is a skip option). I have had the cut scene visuals freeze but the audio continue, visuals then start back up with the audio playing a couple of seconds out of sync.
My save file has become corrupt, just stuck on the loading screen. Luckly deleting my local saves and recovering an old save from the cloud worked.
If you take the game as a whole it's one hell of an achievement but I have to be honest I was expecting it to look better and play smoother, don't get me wrong its not unplayable or shit looking, it's the old hype train syndrome at work.

Re: The Witcher 3
Should have gotten the PC one Mr Giz Failing that the PS4 was clearly a better choice if frame rates worry you. Cant say ive seen it slowing a lot other than at the start of a cut scene, but i aint really played much.
I probably shouldnt have bought it - what I want is a prettier looking fallout - which this isnt
Oh and you can skip the cuts - its X/Square. First press pops the prompt up.
Hype train sucks baws.

Re: The Witcher 3
I came across a couple of glitches last night where I walked through a door and seemed to get get stuck, luckily I had already saved a minute or so before so was able to reload without much of a problem. The other one was a guard who was walking through the castle and got stuck in the wall.
Apart from the above I am enjoying it and its one of those games that you can get lost in. I have been reading on various forums that the main story alone is 25 hours and that was rushing through it. With the side missions its an 100 hour plus game which is great

Re: The Witcher 3
I had my horse hovering around 2m off the ground .
What I've read is that ps4 has locked the frame rate at 30fps but it doesnt always achieve 30, where as xb1 isnt locked and allows to fluctuate from as low as 20fps upto 50 plus.
The open world is impressive, plenty to do. I'm finding myself starting one mission but end up wandering off else where until i stumble into something too high a level for me.

Re: The Witcher 3
About 3 1/2 hours, I was mopping up the first area, missions and locations I had opened. Didn't take as long to redo them thankfully skipping dialogue and knowing where to go. Learned to manual save now though, before and after each new encounter.
Makes you wonder what they class as testing, game saves are sort of crucial on a game this size. If someone is playing offline and it happens they're screwed, they'd be starting all over again with no cloud back up. Mine hadn't auto saved at all yesterday right back to the start of play. Dying is what triggered it, game wouldn't restart, just hangs with the spinning loading logo. Restarting the game it would hang while its looking for the local save, no menu option to load save, new game etc.
To get the game running again its just a case of deleting the local saves, the game will then sync with the last cloud save.

If anyone is going to attempt to 100% Witcher 3 just becareful what decissions you make along the way. For the "Full Crew" Trophy/Achievement you need to recruit a few NPCs, one of which I've already killed .
