Its not really a suprise seeing as the likes of EA have already adopted this. Its not great but I can see why the pubs are doing this. I just wish the cost of the online pass wasnt quite as much - 400 rather that 800 would be a bit easier to swallow.

It all depends on what you get for the points though, if its nothing then its a rip off but say, 800 points for the online pass for BC2 that guarantees dedicated server support + some extra maps so imo is worth the cost. Mass Effect 2 charged 1200 points for the Cerberus Network on preowneds but also threw in some bonus content.

That said, if I am looking at a second hand game I tend to factor the cost of the game + any online pass costs and see if it still works out cheaper than buying new

think you hit the nail on the head there chris. the devs/pubs are saying that it will lead to a more quality experience, so if they mean dedicated servers then fair dos. i suspect the reality may be different.
