CoD Ghosts Multiplayer trailer
Some interesting ideas revealed last night, both Cranked and Squads look like good additions and the AI improvements were impressive. I also like the single prestige per soldier this time around and the fact you keep your unlocks.
However I must say that while IW have gained my attention again these improvements are not enough for me to shake the feeling that it'll just end up as business as usual with some bells and whistles...

I struggle to get excited about Call of Duty. Its the same old shit every year. We will all buy it, play it to death for a few days and then spend the rest of the year moaning how shit it is
To me that just looks like a polished up version of MW3. Mind you I cant blame them for keeping the Call of Duty Franchise going it makes them millions and year on year kids and adults all over the world will buy it on release day

Meh, was half Impressed with the live event. Still doesn't look anywhere near as good as Battlefield 4 in my opinion.

Re: CoD Ghosts Multiplayer trailer
i dont get it when folks say "same stuff every year". the same thing could be levelled at the fifas and f1's of this world. plus, and lets be honest here, BF4 will be the same as the last one, with only a few tweaks and prettier looking, and thats been, what, 2 / 3 years in development?
thing is, cod is a quick paced action shooter. simple as. and what it does, it does well. where it ultimatly lets itself down is with lag and hit detection, and when they are shocking, the game is incredibly infuriating. same as button lag in fifa clubs.
the reveal last night showed some great ideas. the new game modes look great, and the addition of the squads mode, which looks pretty versatile, and the different modes for clans, means that the community could be quite segregated this time around. heck, if the two things mentioned are as fun as they sound they could be, then you could play multiplayer for 12 months without ever touching the traditional MP lobbies. seems they are trying to offer different experiences for different players. and that all sounds pretty good to me
i particularly like that they are reducing the amount of air based killstreaks.
plus, its the first time for a while (if ever) that IW have looked at the Treyarch game and copied things that work. and that is definatly a good thing
but, it all comes down to the connection issues. if they dont get that right, it wont really matter what they add or dont add and how good or bad those things are

Re: CoD Ghosts Multiplayer trailer
The reason I say it is that I feel the series is in need of a CoD 4 style overhaul, there's only so much of the same game I can take, same goes for FIFA's and F1's (although these will always inherently be similar)slowdog76 wrote:i dont get it when folks say "same stuff every year". the same thing could be levelled at the fifas and f1's of this world.
Don't get me wrong I completely understand why they have stuck to to the same formula, it's hugely popular and rage moments aside it us probably the slickest multiplayer available. If IW can keep up this pace if changes then I'm interested, I agree the core mechanics are fine but it's the other additions that tend to cause issues (perks, killstreaks etc)
IW have imo already taken a step in the right direction by nerfing the amount of air based killstreaks and doing away with deathstreaks and like I said if the improvements continue then I may well grab this.

Re: CoD Ghosts Multiplayer trailer
This is 'the same old shit' thing for me on COD now, as a shooter it has its merits. 60fps smooth, fast gameplay that can be completely spoiled by P2P online matchmaking, lag compensation etc. They HAVE to go down the dedicated server route now imo because otherwise it will be the same old shit again irrespective of whatever changes and innovations they add - they really can't have any excuses not to now and are potentially going to start losing their advantage given that Respawn have already stated Titanfall will be on dedicated and we know that BF4 will be as well.slowdog76 wrote:where it ultimatly lets itself down is with lag and hit detection, and when they are shocking, the game is incredibly infuriating. same as button lag in fifa clubs.

Then you would think that IW would be quick to confirm that - apparently, they didn't.....

Yeah I'm suprised too but MS did confirm at E3 that all devs have access to their Azure service for dedicated servers

Re: CoD Ghosts Multiplayer trailer
It wouldnt surprise me if it will be dedicated on platforms that give them access to it at no hassle to them i.e. XB1 but will probably remain P2P on 360/PS3

Re: CoD Ghosts Multiplayer trailer
Without a doubt, I have a feeling that Ghosts on current gen will be much closer to MW3 than the next gen version but then that can be said about any current/next gen release and as always it'll be pointless getting the current gen versionN1NJA FWG wrote:It wouldnt surprise me if it will be dedicated on platforms that give them access to it at no hassle to them i.e. XB1 but will probably remain P2P on 360/PS3

Re: CoD Ghosts Multiplayer trailer
It just looks like CoD, lack of changes, lack of innovation. Not very inspiring but it some moves seem positive - moving away from air based kill streaks and death streaks is definitely a good thing.
The main factors on whether it's any good or not will be the weapon balance and the maps. We won't be able to judge those until it's out. Please, please, please dedicated servers on X1 at least - it's about bloody time.
