Re: Gamescom
It does feel like MS have the momentum at the moment but I didn't think the conference was fantastic by any means.
Halo looks like the definitive package and there's an incredible amount of content there.
I'm not particularly impressed by Tomb Raider going console exclusive - a seriously shit move by Square there and I think it will backfire on them in the long run. But, still, at least us X1 owners get the game which should be ok - the first one was solid if not amazing.
In reality though, very little exciting new stuff which I wasn't expecting apart from the fact that MS kept promising excitement!

I thought the conference had some good stuff. Finally getting YouTube upload and SharePlay sounds interesting (although there could be limits like Far Cry 4's 2 hour time lint).
Really like the look of Alienation, and as its by those who made Resogun it should play well.

Re: Gamescom
I'm actually surprised that the new CoD game has me interested, maybe it's because it looked as if they'd added Halo & Titanfall flavours into the mix.
Halo has me sold, I'm a Halo fanboy, so I've got a twinge in the trouser dept for the collection. The Halo Channel looks like it's the new Waypoint, but with added steroids.
When they showed the stuff about the Halo 5 beta I'm convinced there was a split second of footage showing the map Midships.
Quantum Break's footage has tempered my enthusiasm, it reminds me of Timeshift & so may not be as revolutionary as I hope.
Tomb Raider becoming exclusive is something I don't care about. If it's a crap game, then it's crap wherever it is.
But Crystal Dynamics seem to have a handle on what makes a good TR game IMO.

I must admit having now watch the Microsoft conference I quite like the look of Advanced Warfares campaign, the MP still looks crap but it might at least be worth a rental now....
Halo is Halo, I'm sold on Halo from the moment anything is announced so that's that, Must say I'm still not convinced by Sunset Overdrive.....something about it just looks reall off to me :/
Free Forza cars are nice and the Formula E car is a fantastic introduction to FM5's open wheel for me, managed 73rd on the leaderboard for the rival challenge

Re: Gamescom
We were talking about this last night and how they emphasised the sales figures, it turns out Sonys 10 million unit sales quote may have been a little jibe at MS over a 360 quote some time ago.
2008 Don Mattrick “History has shown us that the first company to reach 10 million in console sales wins the generation battle.”

Re: Gamescom
Did anyone watch the Gamescom Halo Showdown Comp?
It was broadcast on the Halo Twitch Channel. Some fantastic game play to watch, they are doing rebroadcasts of it.
They're using 2 maps from Halo 2 - Sanctuary and Ascension - in the Team Slayer mode.
I was never that good but spent many a happy hour with friends. I'm started to get really excited.

Re: Gamescom
I actually did catch a game of it by accident, Cylon. I can't remember where but I happened to stumble upon a link to the Halo twitch page and clicked it out of curiosity.
There are loads of Halo 1 and 2 maps that I've never really played (including both sanctuary and ascension) since I didn't play them online. My Halo 1 playtime was all in splitscreen (largely against my brothers and some neighbourhood friends) and I played quite a lot of Halo 2 system link with my friends from school. We'd alternate between our houses, meeting up every week or two to play. In both situations we had a few maps that everyone agreed on so we'd just play them constantly. In hindsight it's weird to think that we spent tens of hours playing it but I can only clearly remember 3 or 4 maps.
Of course it all fell apart when people started to get xbox live. Once half a dozen of us had it we weren't as keen to go to the hassle of setting everything up and playing on a quarter of a screen when they could just play online.

Re: Gamescom
I can't wait for this, 100 maps is just insane!
The only issue I may have us that Titanfall seems to have ruined all other FPS games for me with its stupidly awesome freedom of movement....
