Limbo nominated for 7 GDC awards, Has to take on the big guns!
It would seem that an independently developed Xbox Live Arcade title has left an indelible mark within the hearts and minds of the GDC organizers. Playdead’s Limbo has been nominated for Game of the Year and on March 2nd, we will know if the critically praised game took home the coveted top honor.
The indie game is fantastic to be sure, but in order to be victorious, they must beat out juggernauts like Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption, Bioware’s Mass Effect 2, Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. The competition is thick at the 11th annual choice awards and won’t be anything but celebration for the indie developer, if Limbo takes home the top honor.
Playdead’s ray of light shines brightly despite it’s stygian design. Limbo is also recognized in six other categories; Best Game Design, Innovation, Best Audio, Best Downloadable Game, Best Debut Game, and Best Visual Art. The game that comes close to matching the Xbox Live title is Red Dead Redemption, nominated for 6 awards. The indie puzzle-platformer took players on a journey few have fared to go by presenting a world full of dread and wonder. The shadowy game created something in them that made them feel like they were seeing stars in the middle of the day. So what do you think Gamebuzzers? Which game will it be to take home the glory?
Not bad for a game with no colour!

The demo was beautiful. Too many things that have eaten up my points have stopped me getting this but I will do in time
