Epic kicks Bulletstorm buyers in the nuts....announces Gears 3 beta for ALL XBL gold members....

To the surprise of Bulletstorm Epic edition owners, Gears 3’s beta will be available to all Xbox Live Gold members in mid-April. It will feature three new multiplayer game modes and 4 maps. Two maps have already been confirmed – Stadium and Supermarket. The other two maps will be chosen by fans through a contest on the games official Facebook page. The four selections are – Mercy, Old Town, Overpass and Trenches.
New Multiplayer Modes
King of the Hill – Combines with Annex and simplified with a new user interface and ring that moves around the map.
Capture the Leader – Capture and hold either Chairman Prescott or Queen Myrrah. The leaders aren’t useless though as they can see through walls and coordinate their teammates. Also, everyone gets one smoke grenade that can be used to force the player holding the leader to let go.
Team Deathmatch – Each team gets 15 respawns. Once those are gone, it is game over for the team that gets killed first.
Unlockables
“Cole’s Thrashball outfit can be unlocked once you play 70 matches of any game type. You get to keep him in the retail version if get 83 matches total.” 
Dedicated Servers – Epic has also stated that the game’s multiplayer will have its own dedicated servers, unlike Gears 1 & 2. This ensures a much improved online experience over the first two games.
Release Date – Finally, Gears of War 3 will be released on September 20th.

Its not a fail - this whole Gears 3 beta gig has been a shambles since it was announced - first off they limit it to a special edition of Bulletstorm, then limit said SE to one retailer (incorrectly) in this country, change distribution of SE to Game and now announce this.

The words piss up and brewery spring to mind as Epic look like they have fumbled their way through without a clear plan.

Do you get any other additional features with Bulletstorm SE? surely the gears 3 beta wasnt the only hook? at the end of the day you still have Bulletstorm but the advertising I had through my door from GAME for bulletstorm did put a large section on it about the access to the "exclusive" beta. Bit of a balls up and possibly a case for false advertising? But Bulletstorm is still awesome (from what I saw on the demo) so sod it.

Just a different coloured leash and some extra echoes maps (you can get these free anyway )

oh.................that is a bit of an then Chris if yours still aint arrived cancel it and buy a standard one

at least now i can wait for Bulletstorm to come down in price or get secondhand

Just seen on facebook that GoW3 beta is starting april 18 for bulletstorm owners 1 week before the GoW3 pre-order people. Might have to pre orrder this then!

from what i've read the beta only applies to those who pre-order at Game. whatever happend to 'freedom of choice'.

whats to stop people pre ordering to get the beta access then just cancleing the order before its shipped?

Errm, well the beta for those pre-ordering GOW3 will get the code for the April date. There wouldnt be any point shipping it with the game

I am actually not that bothered about getting the beta for this, Im happy enough to wait this one out.

D'oh. Shows I wasnt paying any attention. I am sure they will have something in mind for people who are going to try this method though still worth a try I suppose

Im sure they will have something in place to stop you pre-ordering to get access to the beta and cancelled the order at a later date. If not then that will be a Fail on Game's part.

Maybe a non refundable deposit to secure a preorder....
