Dark Souls
First things first if you suffer from game rage Do Not Play! (Chris)
Has to be the most unforgiving RPG you can buy.
I've been playing for about 4 hours now and still haven't progressed past the 2nd boss which realisticly you could get to in 20 minutes.
The game is mainly revolved around souls as in xp and money are both souls which you get from killing enemies or picking up from random bodies, if you die you lose all your souls and you have to find your corpse to regain your souls but if you die before you find your corpse you lose your souls that you've collected forever.
This can be very fustrating as i've died around 40times by now.
There is ten classes.
Warrior - Expert with weapons
Knight - High HP good armor
Wanderer - High dexterity (good with bows)
Thief - Good critical hit chance
Bandit - High strength
Hunter - Good with bows and good close range with swords
Pyromancer - Casts fire spells
Cleric - Casts healing spells
Deprived - Good alrounder
So far i've played as a Hunter and a Pyromancer and i'm finding it a little easier as the Pyromancer as Fire Magic is powerful
The menu and the interface seem very outdated and very lazy.
The game play itself is what you would expect from a action RPG just go around and kill things, there is a very clever system of leaving hints for other players they appear as scorched runes on the floor but i have yet to find any useful ones most seem to be silly or obvious. You can also find Blood Stains which shows you where and how other players have died.
Even with game installed the game can suffer with a slow frame rate.
There is alot of grinding involved in the game if you wish to not die loads.
It's a game that takes time to get used to but can be very rewarding.
Recommended to anyone that wants a challenge and a very long lasting game.

Re: Dark Souls
one of the interviews that i saw with the devs stated that they made it hard on purpose so that there would be an elated feeling when you succeeded
this of course from the country that gave us sado masochistic tv shows in the eighties
hey beales - is it possible to give yourself an easier time with careful choices when levelling up?
