LG to debut first "Super HD" TV at CES 2012....comes in 84" with glasses free 3D!

LG Electronics is bringing out its big guns at next month's International CES show in Las Vegas.

The company announced today that it plans to debut it's 84-inch 3D Smart TV that uses Ultra Definition display technology - essentially a 4KTV.

4K displays double the amount of horizonal lines (4,000), and includes 8 million pixels while current 1080p HDTVs feature 1,980 horizontal lines and about 2 million pixels.

LG's LED television will actually boast a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160, which is not quite 4,000 but close enough to be technically a 4K television.

"The new LG 3D UD TV takes home entertainment to a whole new level by combining a giant Ultra Definition display with our outstanding CINEMA 3D functions and Smart TV features. Simply put, 3D home entertainment just got even better," said Jay Vandenbree, senior vice president, home entertainment, LG Electronics USA.

The TV uses LG's Smart TV ecosystem with over 1,200 apps and features 2D to 3D conversion for enjoying standard HD content in 3D. Like previous LG Smart TVs, the new 84-inch model will also make use of the company's Magic Remote for point and click controls.

I need a bigger living room.

I wonder if the current gen can support this resolution or will they need to update the graphics drivers....

what resolution can our eyes actually see in anyhows?

Nobody is too sure Andy but estimates put it at around 24000x24000 with 576 mega pixels

thats not a tv, its a window!!! very cool but would look utterly rediculous in all but the largest rooms but who cares.......84"!!!

Just measured up and my wall in the living will easily accommodate one of these bad boys

Our front room is 12ft wide x 16ft wide so I'd have to mount it on the back wall then just to make sure know the fire place wall through to the neighbours (i'm sure they wouldn't mind after seeing the size I had on offer lol)

Seeing as I sit about a meter and a half from my current 42" I doubt the whole of an 84" would fit in my field of view....

Wow, don't even want to imagine how much this is going to cost....

Fuck the cost sell the wife and kid best not I'd have to pay to get rid of mine
