Crytek boss confirms that Crysis 3 will play more like the original

Crysis 3 will be "clearly ahead" on the PC over PS3 and Xbox 360, with gameplay more like that in the original Crysis than 2010's Crysis 2, CEO Cevat Yerli has announced on Twitter.

"Crysis3 will push the 360, PS3 to its limits, ahead of Crysis2, but Crysis3 PC will be clearly ahead!" Yerli wrote, adding that "Crysis3 will be more a spiritual successor in gameplay to Crysis 1 instead of Crysis 2."

Crytek added refined nanosuit abilities, a suit upgrade system and New York-based urban environments to Crysis 2, so Yerli could be hinting at a return to the even more organic, open gameplay of Crysis.

Crysis 3 is set in a ruined New York that has been overcome by nature.

With Crytek's track-record on the platform, it's no surprise that the developer considers Crysis 3 PC as the superior version - it released a DirectX 11 patch for Crysis 2 with enhanced visuals, post-launch.

If they are sticking New York under a dome then there is no reason why this can't be a lot more open world

From what I gather mate it'll be set in 7 vastly different open areas

the original was so powerful my up to date pc with 16gb of ram a new radeon 6870 and a quad 3.5 ghz sometimes struggles with it haha

it had to be lessened for release on 360 marketplace otherwise 360s would fry

Crytek did a great job with the 360 version of Crysis, It had much lower resolution textures but the reworked lighting was pretty awesome, smooth as silk too!

The first one was really well done on 360 and was still a great looking game. I beggars belief that it can still hammer current day PC tech though and still shows why it is still a great game to benchmark against

i cant run the 64 bit version on this pc crashes everytime for some reason need to work it out. Also the playgroundapplication for it to create and spawn stuff always crashes!
