theres one thing in the middle of that sony conference that went un-noticed.

unless they didnt clarify it properly, but multiplayer is now a part of playstation plus. ie: paid subscription

edit: just checked, and that is confirmed.

I fell asleep around 1am so I missed the conference. But the clips I saw this morning was totally kicking Microsoft up the butt and laughing at them too!

there was an awful lot of hyperbole throughout, with comments made that seemed liked game exclusives but actually probably weren't, ie: "coming first to consoles on PS4". basically timed exclusives too.

also said something about 40 forms of exclusive content over the first 12 months, which again was worded t sound like 40 exclusives, but wasnt the case. ie: exclusive batman skins for the upcoming origins.

some games looked cool. some looked ok, some looked average.

change in PS+ policy, as i mentioned above.

and as for the other things.....

well..... i've just watched it, and its early, so im gonna allow it to soak in before i comment further.

what is MASSIVELY apparent though is that MS need to very quickly clarify an AWFUL lot to some form of satisfactory level

Im already getting PSN+ so I can live with the new tie in with online. You can get + for £30 if you look about - the free games you make it well worth it imho. (Looks like you get drive club free with + too)

They really did stick the knife in with the used games on 24hr checkin thing didnt they ? (Course it could be said M$ deserve it)

Ps+ doesn't bother me. I pay for Live now and I am willing to do so. Not an issue

What it has done though is make microsoft think about what they have decided and to clarify them.

Knowing M$ though, they may just bury their heads in the sand and hope they dont but PS4 is looking good.

The only thing that M$ have over Sony (for the Gen anyway) is better launch games...

see, i think thats the key thing for me, and why im not jumping to a decision just yet.

what the last / current gen proved is that MS do the multiplayer / party etc thing much much better.

there are still aspects of both consoles, for me, that i need to know much much more about

No a whole lot different than 'timed exclusive DLC for BF4/COD' surely ?

In all of the conferences I saw - PS4, M$ and UBI.. Some good looking stuff and some pish.

You neglected to mention M$ offering a wannabe PSN+ equivalent of getting 2 free games with gold... this is good... until Novemeber... aw come one M$ get with the program.. Just give gold memeber some free games ffs.

I've always had an issue with the PS controller, I never found them comfy for long game sessions & I had issues with the headsets working once or twice & then never working again.

Those two factors make me hesitant on getting a PS4, I had dismissed the idea of getting one but know I will look into it a bit more.

If anything what Sony have done is make Microsoft either Rethink (maybe its to late?!) or justify their reasons.

I notice neither of them mention game cost.. think that will be up in the air for a while but we will see.

Id sooner then not spend pots of cash just because they want exclusive content anyway...

I know it wont happen but if they are taking the steam route they need to play it like steam. Stupidly cheap sales etc, cheap games.

That way they can justify the no rental etc

Let's see what DRM the publishers come up with on PS4 now though. It might be even worse than MS. Sony will have no control so they'll all fracture and go down their own paths. You can always trade PS4 discs but that doesn't mean they'll be worth anything - it could easily end up being like PC where they're just a delivery method.

That said, Sony's attitude is great and the price is fantastic.

It's a tough one for me. I hate the PS controller though so will take a lot of getting over that for me to switch. MS could of had my business so easily but it's up on the air now.
