M$ Removing "Gun-like" avatar items in Jan
A post just went up over on Xbox 360 developer Epic Games (coming from Epic's community manager Raczilla) official forums regarding the upcoming January 2012 removal of two of their hot Gears of War Avatar items - the Hammerburst and non-violent chainsaw Lancer. Apparently Microsoft is enforcing a new "no-gun" policy for Xbox LIVE Avatar items that will go into effect at the beginning of 2012. If you have already purchased either of these, or other banned Avatar accessories, you are free to continue using them but if this is true they won't be available to purchase on the Xbox Live Marketplace starting in January. If you are one of those insane violent-prone individuals (just kidding) run and stock up on "gun-like" avatar items before the New Year; we have reached out to Microsoft for an official comment and will update this post accordingly.

Sigh, how can a company provide the platform for millions of people daily to go online and virtualy shoot other people and yet not want people's profile associated with guns?

as dave says abit bloody daft when you have some of the most violent games going and you cant show some guns off.
i get it but what they should do is block them from being seen by the youth and only adult profiles.but then how would you enforce adult youth profiles.
it would be a case of opening a can of worms to much to go down
